Although the "Sabot" isn't exacly a new pattern its method of construction is. First, it's constructed almost entirely of synthetic materials so it won't absorb water and feel like a wet mop when casting. Second, the head is hollow braid covered with several layers of epoxy and all tying is done under the head to protect the wrappings. As the head is painted with an acrylic/epoxy mixture it can be tied in almost any color combination requested. Field tests in Canada and Slovenia have proved this to be a very tough fly, resistant to these toothy fish and easily repairable if marred. This is a diving version but a deeper version is in the works.
